Responding to disclosures of sexual violence has four parts: it will introduce you to the key issues surrounding sexual violence in higher education and society; it will help you to understand what constitutes consent, identify the legal definitions of sexual offences, and challenge common myths and misconceptions; it will explore the impact of sexual violence, highlighting barriers to reporting and the importance of responding to survivors in non-judgemental ways; finally, it will provide you with the practical knowledge and skills to respond to a disclosure in line with best practice and institutional policy. You will also learn how to recognise when you might need support in dealing with a disclosure.
