Welcome to the "Introducing undergraduate research across the curriculum" course. This course conveys the benefits of exposing undergraduates to research projects in an effort to jump-start their careers, and identifies ways to provide them with transferable skills that will enable them to be employed outside of academia. You will learn different ways to scaffold undergraduate research into the courses in your departments, and transparently make students aware of the transferable skills they are learning through their research.

The center of each screen, where you are now reading, contains the core content for each course, presented either as text, interactive activities, images or videos.

Pods

Throughout this course, you will see additional learning opportunities in "pods." They contain useful material related to your institutional context or useful links. Exploring the information provided in the pods will enrich the learning experience.

Quiz

At the very end of each course, you have the opportunity to test your learning further with a multiple-choice quiz. This consists of ten questions and can be taken more than once (a new set of questions will appear).

We recommend that you complete the program in the order given, but if you have relevant experience of some of the areas covered, you might want to move through the screens and courses in the order that makes the most sense to you.

Screen duration

At the top of each screen you will see the approximate time it will take to complete the core content.

Screen duration

At the top of each screen you will see the approximate time it will take to complete the core content. These estimates include time to watch videos and complete activities in the central section, but not to complete the additional 'Portfolio activities' or to read the supplementary information provided in the pods.

Please note that these time estimates are indicative only; every individual will be different. As you work through the course, gauge whether you are working more or less quickly than the estimates suggest, and modify your expectations accordingly.
